Aqua Teen Bomb Scare occurs.
January 31, 2007
Boston police receive reports of a mysterious blinking device under highway overpass near Sullivan Square. The subsequent discovery of some three dozen such devices around the city results in the temporary closure of I-93 and the Orange Line and results in traffic jams, and transit slowdowns. It turns out the devices are part of a so-called “guerrilla marketing” campaign by local artists Peter “Zebbler” Berdovsky and Sean Stephens for a new film on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim show. The two artists are arrested and their client, Turner Broadcasting, subsequently repays the city $2 million for public safety costs.
